Septic system inspections are one of the most crucial aspects of purchasing a home. A faulty septic inspection can cause heartache for years, and cost new homeowners thousands in repairs. A septic system inspection should be done by a qualified professional approved by the Connecticut Health Department. That actively works in this field on a daily basis. The State of Connecticut only recommends four classification of qualified professionals.
- Licensed Subsurface Sewage Installers
- Professional Engineers (Sanitary/Civil Engineer Discipline)
- Registered Sanitarians or sanitarians who have been certified by the State Dept. of Public Health to inspect subsurface sewage systems
- Inspectors who have obtained accreditation through a state sponsored inspection certificate program.
Many times other home inspectors who are not properly trained, nor have the proper tools will attempt to guide home buyers but are often times not held liable for their actions.
